Aquaponics Experiment
After a year of planning,in October 2010, Maa-Bara team member, Elisha Goodman, worked with a local labor union and the SPIN Financial Literacy Center in Lynn, Massachusetts, to build an aquaponics system which now is visible through the floor to ceiling windows of a refurbished bank building on Union Street in downtown Lynn.
The system draws those who pass by in off the street and serves as a locus for community members. Here, clients at the financial literacy center learn to care for living things and school children come to learn about biology, chemistry, ecology, and growing food sustainably in an urban setting.
